New Gig

1 min read
Pretty excited to get a new gig to pencil a sci-fi war story with mech's and a kinda EC vibe to it! The offer came just as I was getting ready to take school off for the summer, so good timing! This will be my largest project to date - 22-24 pages. It will be inked by the super awesome/talented Bill Anderson. The publisher want's to keep it hush-hush super secret for now but I'll post what I can when possible.

Haven't been producing too much work these days anyway, but I've made the decision to return to school for professional reasons, so I won't be posting too much in the near future. I'll log in now and then just to check on things. Good luck to all those talented, aspiring artists out there in DA!

Been awhile since posting anything. Been busy in my little spare time working on pin-up gigs. Please check out my gallery! I'm preparing to return to school, so I won't have much time for drawing, but will fit stuff in when I can. The plan is to work on my coloring skills and get back on track with my Celtic Demon Slayer submission package for Image or whoever will have him. Stay warm! KH.

I attended The Kubert School for one year, back in '80-81. At that time, I was immature (even more so than now, heehee), and did not take as much advantage of the opportunity as I could have. Never the less, it made a lasting impression on me, and how to approach comic art/story telling. Joe Kubert was still teaching 1st year students then (when he could, eventually his busy schedule wouldn't allow it), and those classroom experiences and his critiques are memories that I'll cherish forever. Looking back, attending TKS was truly one of the most wonderful periods of my life, and my only regret is not going back to finish (see immaturity sic). RIP Joe Kubert and thank you for all your awesome contributions to this reality. KH.

Finally finished story for the HVZA zombie graphic novel (see my latest posting of the title page). HVZA stands for 'Hudson Valley Zombie Apocalypse'. The writer was Janine Frederick, and I must say; Janine is both talented and the funniest Facebook poster I've ever seen (j9naimoli@comcast.net)! It's been a ton of work, but a total gas. A little break, then back to work on another project titled: 'WTF (What the Freak)?' A 21st century take on the EC genre that I'm collaborating on with my peep: Dennis Webster. More to follow (hopefully a lot sooner than later!).
FYI: I'm a guest artist at the Albany Comic Con, Holiday Inn - Wolf Road, Colonie NY on 6/10/12. It's gonna rock! KH.

It's been awhile since last entry. Chrome Dome is on temporary hiatus as is D. Smith's and mine anthology submission, but no worries: I've been tagged to contribute to a zombie graphic novel titled 'HVZA'! I'll contribute 8 pages of pencils and inks and am really stoked! Zombies! Hot girls! Gore! Who could ask for more??? (rhyme intended). I'll provide more info later. Check out the zombie studies piece in my gallery. Peace out.

Reached something of  a milestone the other day: Finished the last page of pencils for Chrome Dome! It's been a grind and now a relief, but now I have 9 pages to ink, shade, and letter (not so easy with a full time job and family to attend, but its all good...:) ! I'll post some pencils soon. Stay tuned!

So, been working on a my latest (and second) gig. Doing pencils, inks, shading, and letters. It is titled 'Chrome Dome' and will be published as part of an anthology series by 215Ink. It's written by a really talented guy named Dennis Webster. He has a book on Amazon right now about ghost investigators in the Mohawk Valley of upstate NY. It's titled: 'Haunted Mohawk Valley'. Check it out!

Speaking of talent, my first gig was written by Don E. Smith, and he is also published. His latest book is: 'The Goffle Road Murders of Passaic County. Our collaboration: 'Ghost Investigator' was penciled by Joseph Regis, and inked, shaded, and lettered by yours truly. The cover was done by Joe, and Bill Anderson who inked, colored, and did the logo. Bill is an amazing inker, colorist, editor, all around talent, who has worked on titles for Marvel and Image. He is now concentrating on creator owned projects. I've posted contact info below for all the awesome people involved with GI:

Bill Anderson…Wesbite: home.roadrunner.com/~swingshif… E-mail: swngshft@nycap.rr.com
Don Everett Smith Jr…Wesbite: donsmith74.wordpress.com E-mail: donsmith74@netzero.com
Linda Zimmermann…Website: www.ghostinvestigator.com E-mail: lindazim@optonline.net

FYI: GI is based on Ms. Zimmermann's real life experiences as a ghost investigator!

I've posted samples of both projects in my gallery.

Hmmmmm, seems to be some common thread here regarding ghost hunters and such. Oh well, I'm always in for a good haunting and it is Halloween season. See you in the pumpkin patch!
